Making this podcast took me back to my childhood when our connection with the community was much stronger. We basically knew everybody in the street. I still remember people coming to our house on Saturday night to watch our black and white TV ( because our neighbours didn’t have one) - going to Mr brown’s house next door on several occasions to borrow a cup of sugar and walking down the street to Mr Goodwins general store to buy some things on credit, because Dad hadn’t been paid yet. Now those things just don’t happen, we have way more material possessions but way less community and the friendships that come with that community. With all our material gain I think that we have lost something very important, something that we all need now, more than ever.
